A Bad Day Turned Into A Miracle!

29 February 2008, Friday

THE SCENARIO

I am by nature an Optimist. I rarely see the negative side in things. I prefer and often choose to give the benefit-of-the-doubt to people around me. Yes. I am nice to have as a friend. Oops. Forgive my "humility". Anyway, being human... no matter how BIG an optimist I am, I do have my bout of emotional upheaval.... Yes. I am not perfect. Sorry to disappoint.

In the last few days, I was "under the weather". Not physically but emotionally. I caught the 'bug'. How do I describe the symptoms of this thingy....

It makes the heart a little heavy....

It makes the smile half-hearted ....

It makes the laughter softer.....

It makes tomorrow a little cloudy.....

It makes the food taste bland...

It makes the day seem 'too long'....

It makes a mountain out of a mole hill .....

For those who have being hit by this 'bug', would be able to understand that it is not easily 'shaken off'. Sometimes it takes days or even weeks. No paracetamol or anti-biotic will help.

If not properly addressed can lead me downhill... down to the valley. Its usually a long way down! As a result, simple irritants can really bother me.

Bottomline, I don't like the feeling.

THE SOLUTION

Communion is a request by our Lord Jesus to practice, in remembrance of Him.

This is a practice made by Christians, mostly during Church services. Different Churches practice different frequencies of taking Communion. My home Church in Malaysia does it once-a-month, my previous Church in Bangkok had it weekly and the currently one which I am going to takes it once-a-month.

Let's look at what Jesus said in the bible about Communion:

Luke 22: 17-20
17 After Jesus took the cup, he gave thanks. He said, "Take this cup and share it among yourselves. 18 I tell you, I will not drink wine with you again until God's kingdom comes."

19 Then Jesus took bread. He gave thanks and broke it. He handed it to them and said, "This is my body. It is given for you. Every time you eat it, do it in memory of me."

20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup. He said, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. It is poured out for you.

I have never taken Communion outside of the Church but I felt that God wanted me to do it so that I will receive my healing for the heaviness in my heart. It would be the first time for Ethaniel to do it. So, he was visibly excited.

I sliced 3 small pieces of bread and 3 cups of grape juice for my 2 children and I. It was important for them to understand the reason why we are taking the Communion, so I read them the above scriptures from the bible... explained what it meant.

I believe that God can heal when we take the Communion....

1 Peter 2:24

24He personally bore our sins in His body on the tree as on an altar and offered Himself on it, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed.

After we finished the Communion, I asked my children to lay hands on me and pray. Yes they did. I felt the heaviness and my emotionally down heart being LIFTED. Its GONE!!!! It vanished. Ka booom! A new joy came into my heart!!!

Thank you Lord for this miracle!

I told my children the wonderful news that I felt much better after the Communion and prayer. Joel said, "I know. You told me that you will feel better AFTER the prayer."
That is the faith of the children.

Never underestimate the power of the Cross. Its available to you too!
